Purpose:

  • To provide a visual step-by-step guide on how to add an event to the online community events calendar
  • Accessed via: Events - B Corp Community

Guide:

Step 1: Access the online community

Link: https://bcorpcommunity.com/

Step 2: Go to the events channel

You will be see a calendar view of upcoming events

Step 3: Click “+ New Topic” button

This can be found at the top right hand corner

This will trigger a topic post to pop up

Step 4: Add in event details

Add in the event title, and the event description.

Step 5: Make it an event on the calendar

Click the toggle, which triggers a drop down menu. Then click “Create event”

Note: ensure that your cursor in the description box is after all text. Suggest having a line of its own, as “creating an event” will add in some code.

A pop up will appear

Step 6: Fill out event details

Add the event date, time, title, registration URL link, and timezone, and click “Create”

Note: Time is in 24 hours.

Clicking “create event” will take you back to the description box, with the event description in code format. This is what will add the event to the calendar.

Step 7: (Optional) hyperlinking registration text:

Note: Suggest bolding the text (Cmd+B, OR “B” link) for any hyperlinks.

Select the text you want to hyperlink, and click the “link” button

A pop up will appear — add in your link

Once you click “OK”, the link you add will appear next to the text you selected.

Step 8: Publish the event

Click “Create Topic”

The event is now published!

The event will now appear on the calendar, and will also have a “topic” of its own that has all the event description details.

Thank you for this guidance. I managed to have a couple of goes at it but as I followed the steps to add it to the calendar, I obviously was just doing something wrong as I couldn’t get it to load into the calendar. If anyone has a spare 10 minutes to jump on a zoom to see what I am doing wrong I would be so grateful! Thanks
