Fellow B Corps! It’s that (tax) time again… and this year, we wanted to jump in and share an incredibly important campaign/conversation that’s happening right now – in case you might have missed it?
For those of us in the B Corp community that have made impact giving commitments, or those who have made ‘Pay The Rent’ commitments and/or have developed RAPs, this campaign could be the perfect way to honour these commitments and First Nations justice.
See below from the brilliant team at First Nations Futures:
The EOFY: Justice, Not Just Returns campaign (June 9 - 30, 2025) invites individuals, businesses and philanthropists to reframe this financial year from reducing your tax burden to increasing your contribution to First Nations justice.
As EOFY approaches, millions of people donate to minimise their tax obligations - with estimates showing that 30-40% of annual donations occur in June alone. Yet First Nations people remain systematically excluded from this charitable surge, where only 0.5% of philanthropic funding in so-called Australia reaches First Nations community organisations.
First Nations Futures, a community founded and led funding platform, are pushing to raise $400,000 by June 30. Having now reached 84% of their funding target - the team are just $67,242 away from being able to redirect $40k each to 10 First Nations community partners, investing in cultural strengthening, climate justice, youth justice, healing and wellbeing, and language revival.
More than a tax write-off, this EOFY is a chance for us all to reflect on how income, property ownership and business profits in so-called Australia have been built on dispossession - and how genuine repair requires redistributing wealth and addressing the funding inequities that exclude First Nations community organisations.
